Give Way (Yield)

A give way, or yield, sign means you must give way to traffic on the crossing road before you enter the intersection. It is a downward-pointing red-bordered triangular regulatory sign tested in the K53 learners test.

What does a yield (give way) sign mean?

You do not always have to stop, but you must slow down and give way to any traffic on the through road. Only proceed when there is a safe gap.

What must you do at a give way sign?

• Slow down as you approach the intersection.
• Give way to all traffic on the crossing road and to pedestrians.
• Enter only when there is a safe gap.
